Greta Thunberg joins Paris protests, underscoring radical three-way alliance

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has joined French agitators, lending her “How dare you?” indignation to demonstrations that began over education grievances but soon devolved into violent, migrant-driven riots.

In a video posted to her Instagram, Thunberg encouraged agitators to attend what became a clash between rioters, law enforcement and local business owners – calling on her followers to support the cause.

“French students are out continuously facing extreme police brutality just for asking for their basic rights. And now it’s time for us to step up because they cannot carry this alone,” Thunberg said. “They are showing the world, leading by example, what it looks like when young people are stepping up when the system at large is neglecting them systematically.”

“We are asking all of you to contribute with what you can, support them out on the streets, donate and come to the mobilization on Oct. 17,” she added.

The video was highlighted by the Al Jazeera Media Network on X, which noted Thunberg’s use of the phrase “bismillah, c’est les ténèbres,” which translates to “In the name of God, it’s darkness.” The phrase has become a slogan for protesters in France.

While Thunberg is most notably known for her climate advocacy, describing herself as an “autistic & bipolar climate justice activist,” she has been vocal on the conflict between Israel and Gaza. Last year, the 23-year-old activist attempted to reach Gaza by joining the Global Sumud Flotilla, demanding a humanitarian corridor before being intercepted and detained by Israeli authorities.

Days after Thunberg’s social media post calling for mobilization in Paris, she collaborated with the Palestinian Youth Movement in a separate post that defined “the genocidal Israeli army” as “the killers of children.”

Watchdogs have noted a rise in the “red-green-green alliance,” an ideological overlap between three elements: communist movements, characterized by the color red; Islamist activism, described as green; and environmental protest groups, also symbolized as green.

The result is that the same loose group of activists and organizations support a wide array of seemingly unconnected causes. In June 2024, protesters gathered outside Citibank headquarters in New York City under the banner that “Climate Justice Means Free Palestine.”

GLOBAL ‘CHAOS INC’ GROWS TO 101 GROUPS WITH PLANS FOR NEW ROUNDS OF DEMONSTRATIONS

As Thunberg, who became an international darling of the Left in 2019, when she lectured grownups at the UN Climate Action Summit, called on her followers to join the French protests, a network of global communist parties and revolutionary groups also prepared to take to the streets. With Palestinian flags flying alongside student-backed organizations in Paris, the “red-green-green” came into light.

A Fox News Digital investigation has identified 54 organizations and movements behind “Chaos Inc.” in France’s October student protests and their wider network of supporters and international amplifiers, including communist parties, revolutionary socialist groups, labor unions, environmental activists, Muslim student advocates, Palestinian-solidarity organizations and international media outlets.

Of the 54 organizations identified in the October protest ecosystem, 16 — or only about one in three — are student or youth organizations, including communist youth groups and a Muslim student association. The remaining 38 include adult-led communist groups, labor unions, political parties, revolutionary-left organizations, advocacy groups and international propaganda outlets.

Fox News Digital also identified organizations within the Neville Roy Singham network, including Tricontinental, CodePink and BreakThrough News, a New York-based media outlet, which promoted coverage of the weekend’s mayhem in France with the headline: “ANTI-MACRON PROTESTS ROCK FRANCE.”

Singham, a 72-year-old American now living in Shanghai, China, sold his tech company for an estimated $785 million in 2017, and has since funneled $278 million into a broad network of nonprofits. These groups regularly organize and participate in anti-ICE, anti-Israel and pro-Iran demonstrations.

Thunberg’s main vessel for activism, Fridays For Future, was not identified as an organizer, despite her call on social media to mobilize. The group’s funding sources and practices are unclear, although Thunberg travels the globe advocating for various causes. For her 2019 UN speech, in which she uttered her trademark “How dare you?” indictment, the then-16-year-old arrived aboard a yacht powered by wind, with solar panels and water-driven generators to provide electricity.

Thunberg was born in Stockholm, the daughter of Malena Ernman, a successful opera singer, and Svante Thunberg, an actor and producer. Diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome as a young teenager, she has described her autism as a “superpower.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Thunberg and Fridays For Future but did not receive responses.
