Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer torches conspiracy theories accusing Patrick Clancy

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, forcefully defended Patrick Clancy in a new interview with Fox News, rejecting online speculation that the father of three was somehow involved with the deaths of his children, calling the ordeal he endured “horrific.”

Speaking to Fox News’ Bryan Llenas following the mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case, Reddington said he has continued to hear claims accusing Patrick Clancy despite years of investigation.

“My response to those people is, at some point, maybe you get a chance to listen to that 9-1-1 tape, and then you look me in the eye and tell me that you think Patrick Clancy did this,” Reddington said. “What this guy has been through is horrific.”

When asked if there was “no way” that Patrick Clancy was responsible, Reddington doubled down.

“I’ve never said he did. I never would say he did. I don’t think the evidence shows that he did,” Reddington responded. “I know what the evidence shows as far as postpartum. That’s the defense in this case.”

Reddington also rejected suggestions that Patrick Clancy was neglectful or failed to support his wife before the deaths of the couple’s three children.

“How was he neglectful?” Reddington said. “The man was with her, took her to the doctors, tried to advocate on her behalf, was supportive of her.”

He said Patrick Clancy witnessed Lindsay Clancy struggle with sleeplessness and other symptoms that the defense has argued were consistent with severe postpartum mental illness.

Reddington also defended Patrick Clancy’s decision to remarry after the horrific deaths of his children, saying he’s “entitled to move on with his life.” It is something that Lindsay Clancy herself understands.

“She has no compunction whatsoever about saying anything bad about Patrick Clancy,” he said of his client.

The case has garnered widespread attention, especially online, where intense debate and speculation have fueled conspiracy theories about what happened.

Reddington also pushed back on one of the prosecution’s central arguments: that Lindsay Clancy carefully planned the killings by sending Patrick Clancy out on errands. The defense attorney argued that theory was inconsistent with the evidence, pointing to Apple Maps searches prosecutors highlighted during the trial.

“The government takes the position that this was planned,” Reddington said. “Well then why would she Google the distance of nine minutes and three minutes to CVS?”

DAYS AFTER LINDSAY CLANCY MISTRIAL ANOTHER MASSACHUSETTS MOM ACCUSED OF KILLING HER CHILDREN SEEKS FREEDOM

Reddington argued that if Lindsay Clancy had intended to kill the children, she would not have needed to wait for Patrick Clancy to leave the house.

“This woman, if she wanted to plan this, she could have killed those children while he was downstairs working,” he said. “It’s ridiculous.”

LINDSAY CLANCY LAWYER SAYS HE PLANS NEW MOTION TO DISMISS AFTER JURORS SPEAK OUT ON MISTRIAL: REPORT

Reddington also offered an alternative explanation for the Apple Maps searches, saying Lindsay Clancy was overwhelmed after spending the day caring for her children and wanted to know when her husband would return home.

“She was spinning out of control and needed him home,” Reddington said. “It was bath time. It was the time to put the kids to bed. She had to know that he was coming back.”

He said the searches were consistent with the defense’s argument that Lindsay Clancy was struggling with severe postpartum mental illness rather than carrying out a calculated plan.

“If she was, she would have Googled as she did and she would’ve been spot on on every single symptom of postpartum psychosis,” Reddington said. “She was telling the truth.”

Reddington also dismissed claims that Lindsay Clancy fabricated hearing a voice to bolster her postpartum psychosis defense. Critics had argued the reported voice seemed convenient – a theory Reddington rejected.

“You have a very intelligent woman who we all know was Googling all over the place about psychosis,” Reddington said. “She was Googling about the medications. She was Googling about the side effects.”

He added: “I know some people want to see her electrocuted. They want to see her thrown into a pond and tied to a log like they used to do to the witches and see if they float… These people can crawl back into their basements and say what they want. I don’t care.”

The comments came days after a Massachusetts jury deadlocked in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, resulting in a mistrial. Prosecutors have said they intend to retry the case, while the defense is pursuing motions seeking dismissal of the charges or a reduction in the murder counts before any retrial proceeds.
