Tim Scott fires back after ‘Morning Joe’ mocks fiery GOP speech, accuses program of hiding ‘from the truth’

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., fired back at a “Morning Joe” panel during an appearance on “Saturday in America” after the MS NOW hosts mocked his fiery speech at the Republican midterm convention and jokingly prayed for him on air.

Scott dismissed the criticism and accused the program of hiding “from the truth,” doubling down on his assertion that Democrats “hate what it means to be American.”

“At the end of the day, now we know why Joe’s ratings are so darn low. They will hide from the truth, and they will publicly endorse a lie,” he said.

“I know they’re coming for our culture. This is a group of Democrats, the most dangerous, radical and weird group of Democrats, who literally say there are six genders and God is non-binary. If you don’t want to stand up and fight for the soul of this country, your wood is wet. It’s that simple.”

Scott made his impassioned speech at the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention. The GOP convened in Dallas to rally voters as it fights to keep control of Congress in November.

During the convention, Scott declared, “The only way to keep dangerous, radical, weird out of the Senate is a united Republican Party, standing with our President, Donald J. Trump! Stand for the president, Donald J. Trump!”

“This is a battle for the heart of our nation. I said, the heart of our nation! The Democrats’ extreme candidates won’t rip that heart out of our chests!” Scott said.

“They hate our culture,” he added. “They hate what it means to be American. Hear me, Dallas. Not! On! Our! Watch! We will not back down. We will not grow weary.”

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough called Scott’s speech “really weird,” adding, “I thought for a moment there, he needs some anti-seizure medication.”

The panel, including Al Sharpton, joined hands shortly thereafter and jokingly prayed for him.

“Tim Scott needs an intersection. He needs an interception and intersection,” Sharpton said. “Because he is really out there. Bring him back in, Lord!”

Scott told Fox News that, in order to protect the nation, “we have to elect sane, competent people who love the America that we are, not the America they want us to be. They’re trying to change the very DNA of our country.”

“These candidates want a different America. We stand firm on the fact that we are always one nation, always under God,” he continued, taking shots at Democratic Senate candidates Abdul El-Sayed and Troy Jackson.

Fox News Digital’s Alexander Hall contributed to this report.
