Trump Threatens To Seize Iran’s Assets To Cover “Any And All Damages” Done to Ships And Cargo

Trump Threatens To Seize Iran’s Assets To Cover “Any And All Damages” Done to Ships And Cargo

United States ruler Donald Trump has threatened to seize Iranian assets in order to cover “any and all damages” done to ships and cargo in the Middle East, due to the war he and Israel started on February 28th. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that this move sets an “incendiary precedent” that could have global ramifications.

The US has, historically, been unconcerned with the precedents it sets. It tends to carry a “do as I say, not as I do” attitude with regard to war, especially. A great example of this was the war crimes committed against Venezuela in the name of preventing “narco terrorism.”

In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump warned that “from this point forth, any and all damages done to Ships, Cargo, or anything related thereto, will be paid for by Iranian Money that the United States has in its possession, and controls.” He said that “these damages may be very substantial,” describing it as “the fair and equitable thing to do.”

Trump did not clarify exactly which assets he was referring to.

The remarks came hours after Yemen’s Houthi rebels, a group with strong ties to Iran, claimed strikes on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. The US has also accused Iran of targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran has insisted that any passing ships should abide by the regulations it imposed. –RT

In an earlier post on Truth Social, Trump warned Tehran that it would face “major military punishment” over the Houthi strikes. He called the Yemeni group a “surrogate and/or proxy of Iran.” He said America dealt “very powerfully” with the Houthis a year earlier and expressed disappointment that the group is “starting up again” after acting “professionally” during the conflict with Iran.

Attacks On Shipping Vessels In The Red Sea Have Returned

Araghci said that “once governments normalize confiscation, no one’s assets are safe,” and the “ensuing chaos will not be pretty or peaceful.”
